A very positive experience interpreted in three very different ways! Here are a few reflections from staff and riders on the recent training camp held at Twin Falls:
Director Ben Kersten:
What a week from all the riders at our Subaru NSWIS and MS mid year training camp. Our race team was joined by the NSWIS scholarship holders Josie Talbot, Anna – Lezza Hull and Scott Law, along with some guests, Troy Herfoss and Liam Magennis. What a fantastic bunch of people with equal parts talent. Our drive is rider development at we certainly did some developing. Big KM’s, Testing, Climbing, Sprinting, Team Building and Team Values. Besides being buckled afterwards we all had a smile on our face.
Looking forward to out Team Time Trial Camp next week!
Coach Kevin Poulton:
Just reflecting on the camp…. Heading into it we had some planned goals of volume, specific training techniques and testing. All of the riders have finished with around 1200 TSS and have left the camp with an understanding of the different ways to perform strength efforts. Testing and body composition data has provided us with useful information to be used in the future and meeting all goals and objectives during the camp will see us onto the next phase of racing.
Team Captain Nathan Bradshaw:
Over the weekend we did a lot of climbing work and I managed to take out the King Of The Mountains Challenge both days after some fast and furious battles on the climbs with all the boys!
Saturday and Sunday were both big days seeing us clock up over 6hrs on Saturday and 5hrs on Sunday. On Monday the final day of camp we had lead out training to fine tune our structure for the sprint finishes. Despite the 2 big days and a bit training week in our legs all the boys banded together and we gelled really well!
Up next for me is another training camp leading into the NSW Team Time Trial Championships! Until then I’ll be home training the house down!
